Dr. Guan trained and practiced as an Orthopedic Surgeon in the Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine after graduating from Medical College, Jinan University, Guangzhou China in 1991. He has been practicing Chinese Herbology, Acupuncture, and Tui Na Massage Therapy in Victoria since 1997, as a registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner .
With training in both western and eastern practices; Dr. Guan developed a new application of Chinese Tui Na Massage and named it Structural Dynamic Therapy, a new study of the dynamic human body. His Structural Dynamic Theory aimed to connect and integrate both modern and traditional approaches to serve his patients.
With Structural Dynamic Theory, Dr. Guan developed a new way to study Pathology. In his practice of Structural Dynamic Therapy, Dr. Guan considers pain as a type of signal which indicates tension or physical conflict inside the human body. These conflicts could manifest as various dysfunctions of the motor system resulting from tissue or organ defects, or could be related to a change of biomechanical relation i.e. the space between body components. Dr. Guan has determined that a micro misalignment of a joint can cause a long-lasting malfunction and inflammation of more than one soft tissue component.
Dr. Guan practices traditional Chinese Tui Na Massage Therapy incorporating a number of techniques, such as Bone Setting and Human Proprioception, to solve structural problems. As a Chinese Canadian, Dr. Guan is proud to practice inventive medicine and has had tremendous success treating hard-to-treat chronic conditions in Victoria.
