Esalen® massage was developed at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California. The institute was founded in 1962, to study a variety of topics such as psychology, Eastern medicine, peace studies, and economics.
Easlen® massage was developed when Eastern healing modalities and energy work were combined to create a massage technique that focused on healing the mind and body.
The Esalen® technique focuses on releasing the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes, manipulation of the connective tissue and deep pressure on the contracted areas. The practitioner connects deeply with each client to support the body and mind’s ability to self-heal. Benefits include deep relaxation, a sense of peace, and release of physical and psychological tension.
