Neurological Physiotherapy

Neurological Physiotherapy is the treatment of neurological impairments that affect the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. Neurological physiotherapy aims to help individuals recover, identify, and maximize their functional ability and quality of life.

Neurological physiotherapists have experience in treating individuals who suffer from movement disorders and damaged nervous systems. They can offer treatment at any stage of a condition and in some cases prevent the progression of a condition.

During the first session, the physiotherapist will get to know the patient and develop a specific treatment program. The treatment program may include education, training, stretching, balancing, walking practice, postural awareness, and respiratory assessment. The objective is to create a rehabilitation program that will enhance the movement of the weaker muscle groups. The treatment program is dependent on the condition of the patient. Since each patient has a unique treatment program, patients can have as much as five physiotherapy sessions a week.
