My counselling approach is rooted in self-inquiry as it relates to interconnectedness by focusing on building and maintaining relationships that are central to our health and happiness. I believe there are multiple pathways to re-connection and wellness and my practice as a helper is rooted in an Indigenous worldview that incorporates Western contemporary methods and models which complement a holistic approach to self-awareness, while recognizing our roles and responsibilities, and building potent relationships. Having extensive experience working with people in diverse environments from up on the mountains and down by the rivers to offices, board rooms and classrooms, I can collaborate effectively with individuals, young adults, couples and groups in a holistic way to assist in their desired growth and transformations. Everyone has a story and I listen to hear the stories in a natural way, and by understanding the issues in a deeply personal and professional way, I respond with profound respect for the needs of my clients. Whether the need is to collaborate on a pathway of personal goals, relationships, work-life balance, stress reduction, parenting, addictions/harm reduction, holistic health - including anxiety and depression, leadership or reconnecting to the land, I can help identify, recognize and focus on the aspects of these pathways that address the action needed to attain necessary goals. I have a Master of Arts in Leadership (MAL) from Royal Roads University, a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from the University of British Columbia, and a Native Alcohol and Drug Counselor Certificate from Vancouver's Native Education Center. I am an RSW, a member with the BCCSW, and the BCASW, and I have Professional Liability Insurance with the CASW. I am registered to provide Mental Health Counselling Services through the FNHA STCIMHC Benefit and IRS, and as a Counsellor through the BC Crime Victims Assistance Program.
