Dr. Marlin Wilson is a registered acupuncturist and Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner, who opened Wilson Acupuncture in 1997.
Dr. Wilson’s methodology is guided by his desire to help people heal using humor, music, compassion, and solid health concepts. The central theory of TCM is the yin-yang theory: the concept of two opposing, yet complementary forces that shape the world and all life.
In the Traditional Chinese Medicine view, the vital energy or life force is called Qi. Qi regulates and energizes the individual’s spiritual, emotional and physical health, which are influenced by the opposing forces of yin and yang. Qi circulates throughout the body via a system of pathways called meridians. Health is an ongoing process that requires maintaining the balance and harmony in the circulation of Qi.
TCM also uses the theory of five elements: fire, earth, metal, water, and wood to explain how the body works. These elements correspond to particular organs and tissues in the body.
In his own words, Dr. Wilson became a TCM practitioner from “A pure and honest desire to want to do good in life. I want to help people. I was drawn to TCM from an early age by the mystery and usefulness. I felt excited to learn what Qi was and how to develop it. I wanted to learn how to stop headaches and heal sprains and emotional problems, and continued from there. It is very rewarding work.”
When recovering from personal injury, Dr. Wilson suggests keeping a diary of your health. Start by asking “what is my health concern right now?” Watch how it changes over time. Keep all your documentation in order. Insurance is also an important aspect of health care, allowing you to focus on the correct treatment plan, without the financial worries.
Dr. Wilson offers several treatment methods for individuals recovering from personal injury:
