Since attending the West Coast College of Massage Therapy Nicole has been interested in connective tissue and the treatment and release techniques of the 3D web like structure of Fascia. In 2012, she started to focus her work on the Tensegrity model of the human body after experiencing the effects CoAT Method had on her stubborn soft tissue injuries sustained from a car accident. CoAT (Course of Applied Tensegrity) works with the tension and integrity of the Fascial system. There are no isolated parts to a Tensegrity unit, the entire system responds as a whole. CoAT is a tool to provide gentle yet deep, effective work to regain and maintain ease and fluidity in the body while deepening the relaxation response, decreasing pain, and restoring a sense of general well-being. CoAT principles can be integrated with common massage techniques to provide longer lasting results. The understanding of fascia is essential to the dance between stability and movement – crucial in high performance, central in recovery from injury and disability, and ever-present in our daily life from our embryological beginnings to the last breath we take.
